POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Attendance: Choir members must maintain consistent attendance at rehearsals in order to be eligible to sing in performances. Youth Chorus members may miss a maximum of two rehearsals during a semester (September to December or January to May). Extra makeup rehearsals are provided periodically each month in order to make up absences at regular Monday rehearsals. Attendance at final rehearsals leading up to performances are mandatory. Choir members must make a year-long commitment to the choir. Tuition payments will not be suspended or refunded if choir members drop mid-year (barring medical issues or other extenuating circumstances.)
At-Home Practice: Choir members are expected to practice at home (with the aid of customized practice tracks included in tuition) in order to learn all of the required repertoire. As a guideline, choir members should expect to practice 10 minutes per day but may be asked to do more at the director’s discretion.
TUITION AND FEES
Tuition is $405 for the Youth Chorus, $315 for the Children’s Choir, and $225 for Junior Singers. Payment plans are available by contacting our Finance department at (801) 642-0055.
Tuition includes sheet music, practice CD, and other supplies needed. There is no separate fee for materials.
Scholarships are available for talent merit and/or financial need. Scholarship applications can be submitted after an audition.
New Youth Chorus members should expect to pay approximately $150 for concert attire and T-shirt/jacket for tour. Children’s Choir members should expect to pay $20-$50 for concert attire. Junior Choir members do not need to purchase any specific concert attire items, but will be given specific dress guidelines for performances.
COVID-19 RESPONSE PLAN
Singing can increase the risk of spreading contagious diseases like COVID-19. The Heritage Youth Choirs is committed to providing a safe environment for choral singing, in accordance with local governmental guidelines. Depending on the current color-coded risk phase for Utah County, we will do the following:
Green (New Normal): Rehearsals and activities take place as usual, with reminders to observe good hygiene practices such as hand washing, avoiding physical contact, etc.
Yellow (Low Risk): Rehearsals take place in larger rooms (like Patriot Arena, the Rec Hall, and the North Auditorium), with singers spaced further apart. Face masks will be encouraged. Areas will be sanitized before and after rehearsals.
Orange (Moderate Risk): In-person attendance is staggered so that only half of the ensemble will attend at a time (while the other half is watching live from home) to allow for increased socialdistancing. Face masks may be required. Areas will be sanitized before and after rehearsals.
Red (High Risk): In-person rehearsals will be suspended temporarily and virtual rehearsal videos will be distributed weekly for choir members to practice at home.
We are grateful to have a facility at American Heritage School where we can continue with rehearsals in a socially distanced way. If you have questions or concerns about the Heritage Youth Choirs’ response to COVID-19, please contact the director.
