Science at American Heritage is FUN! Our orientation toward Experiential Learning as an ideal mode of discovery and learning is alive and well every day in our science rooms. The discovery begins in kindergarten, where students are given an understanding of their five senses and how they can be utilized to make observations. Students are steeped in the scientific method as the middle-school science teacher shepherds them through the science fair experience.

As students advance into high school, average class sizes become smaller, and experiences become more dramatic. High school students in recent years dissected cow eyeballs (medical anatomy elective), built 3D printers (engineering elective), and accidentally and harmlessly set off a fire alarm (chemistry). As with math, the school’s science scores on the ACT are 25% higher than state and national averages. Students can take AP classes in physics, biology, and chemistry.
