Special Announcement from the Principal and from the Board of Trustees

May 7, 2021

Dear AHS Families,

As you may know, the school has received a record number of applications this year for both our campus-based and online programs. These are devoted and discerning families, many of whom are your friends and family.

Careful growth at AHS has been a long-term pattern for decades. Even through this very difficult year of the pandemic, what we initially thought would be net attrition turned into net growth by the time the year began and has continued steadily through the fall and spring.

This morning we shared with our faculty some important and exciting news related to that continuing growth, including the announcement of a Salt Lake Campus of American Heritage School opening in the fall of 2022 and some related administrative restructuring, including a change in my role as well as the hiring of two new principals: Chase Hale for the American Fork campus and Leland Anderson for the Salt Lake campus.

Please read more about these important announcements, including bios and personal statements from Chase and Leland, in an “AHS Growth FAQ” document HERE.

The following statement from our Board was prepared by Dan Burton, Chairman:

“Dear AHS Community,

We as members of the Board of Trustees feel so fortunate that the school community will continue to benefit from Grant Beckwith’s remarkable overall leadership and direction as American Heritage continues to grow and expand in order that it might lift and build and bless more students and families.

We know that God loves all His children, and we’re grateful to enable more of these children to have the opportunity to learn and grow with the benefit of the light and love of an American Heritage school experience.

We are likewise thrilled to see such talented individuals as Chase Hale and Leland Anderson accept new leadership responsibilities to help facilitate and realize this growth.

We have high confidence in each of these leaders, along with each of our other administrators and amazing faculty members, that together we can continue forward in this meaningful, important work.”

Please know that these careful plans have been years in the making. We have an inspired and experienced board of trustees who has provided every kind of support a school community could hope for from a governing board. We have administrative and faculty teams that are stronger than they have ever been, and we have a parent community who is as unified around our mission as we have ever seen. All of that ground will be carefully, diligently, and faithfully maintained, even as we press forward.

On a personal note, I am more committed to the school than ever, and I’m not going anywhere! :) You will still see me at doors and in hallways, at games and concerts, in classes and in all-parent and all-faculty meetings.

AND you’ll also see Chase and Leland, whom you will come to love and respect just as much as we do. Our leadership team is only getting stronger, and just in time!

With gratitude and excitement, and with faith in every footstep,

–Mr. Beckwith
