Why AHS? — I love the clean, positive environment. I also love the teacher support from administration and parents! Being able to incorporate gospel teachings into each subject is a rare opportunity for a teacher also; I love this aspect too.
Hobbies — We love to sail, and credit our catamaran for years of very fond memories while raising our children. You can learn a lot about a person when you sail with them.
Why do you love teaching Kindergarten? — I’ve been teaching in the lower elementary grades for many years now. I have always loved teaching the younger students for many reasons. They are quick to forgive and eager to learn. It is always an exciting and amazing experience to see a student learn something new.
Favorite subject to teach — I have always especially loved to teach reading. My father was a linguist and was especially talented in teaching English as a second language. Many people world-wide have benefited greatly from his teaching and materials; many have been rescued from poverty because of his dedication to his field. Living life in this way is most satisfying and fulfilling; I hope to do the same with teaching reading.
Family — I have been married for 25 years, and have two adult children. My oldest son just got married in January of 2018. My daughter was called to serve in the Kentucky, Louisville mission just about a month before my son got married.
Education — Bachelor of Science, Family Health, BYU; currently pursuing Masters in Education, Reading & Literacy focus, University of Utah.
“I hope to leave a legacy of loving learning and discovering the gifts God has given to each of us.”
