What have you learned at AHS? — At AHS, I have learned or relearned, that God has a specific and unique plan for each of His children. Each child is an individual and special child of God. I have learned that seeking out the “one” is what Christ would have done.
Curriculum Highlight — I love the History curriculum. I love how each link of our time line is connected to the next. I love how we can learn about the hand of God in ALL things.
Life Experience that prepared you to teach at AHS — As a child, my family moved around a lot. My father worked in the construction industry which took us from one large job to another, usually in another state. I had to learn how to be very flexible, make friends in all types of situations and overcome childhood shyness. All of these things has prepared me for the classroom and for the many different teaching opportunities I have been given.
Why teaching? — I fell in love with teaching while serving a mission in Tallahassee, Florida. After my mission, I worked at the MTC teaching missionaries how to teach the gospel. Both of these experiences led me to teaching.
Education — Bachelor of Science, Psychology, Brigham Young University
Family — My husband and I have three children, two girls and one boy. We love vacationing in California on the beach. We love to watch Hallmark Christmas movies at Christmas time. We love going on long walks in our neighborhood or along the mountainside near our house. We love going to any kind of BYU sporting event!
“I hope that when a child leaves my classroom they will be able to recognize when the Spirit is whispering to them. I hope that they feel like, ‘Mrs. Nielsen loved me.'”
— Mrs. Nielsen
