Penny DeSoto comes to American Heritage School with a great love of children, a great love of the Lord, and a resounding principle-based philosophy for learning and teaching. After spending many years providing for her mother and siblings (nearly ten years working as a manager in the Ballard Medical/Kimberly Clark Corporation), Penny decided late in life to pursue her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. Though Penny had been a seminary teacher and served in many teaching capacities for the LDS Church, the true desire of Penny's heart was to teach in a primary classroom setting on a full time basis. Thus, Penny began taking night classes at Ricks College, BYU, and UVSC to complete her Elementary Education degree, which is a long road for anyone like Penny working full time during the day. Penny feels that being a Third Grade teacher at American Heritage School is a dream fulfilled.
