Kim Swallow, 12th Grade Writing Aide. Kim Swallow joined the LDS Church at 17 years old after recovering from a near-fatal car accident in her hometown of Livermore, California. She then moved to Utah to study at Brigham Young University where she received a B.S. in Human Development and graduated from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School in 2000. While in school, Kim worked as a teaching assistant and legal writing assistant. Additionally, she studied conflict resolution and mediation at the renowned Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. Early in her career, Kim practiced commercial litigation in Phoenix at Kutak Rock LLP and later co-founded the Provo law firm of MacArthur, Heder & Metler PLLC and Focus Mediation Solutions LLC where she practiced law and mediation part-time. Kim and her husband, Ben, live in American Fork and are the proud parents of four children. As the Swallow family grew, Kim chose to leave her part-time law practice and felt led to tour American Heritage School and was touched by the unique spirit of the school. Kim has served as a room parent and volunteer at American Heritage School since her oldest two children, Dylan and Kate began attending the school in 2009. Recently, Kim has returned to her love of teaching by working on occasion as a Substitute Teacher at AHS and teaching a Legal Family Policy course as an adjunct instructor. This year, the Swallows will have their three daughters attending the school and are so grateful for the opportunity they have to learn in such a spirit-filled learning environment. Kim is very excited to work with the students of AHS and to be a part of the joy that radiates from staff and families at American Heritage.
