Janilyn Anderson, lyric soprano, has sung with Utah Symphony and Opera, Utah/Idaho Performing Arts Company, New Opera Works, Utah Lyric Opera Society, Scera, and Draper Historic Theatre. Passionate about teaching and helping others develop their talents, Janilyn is an adjunct faculty member of Brigham Young University’s School of Music, teaching in the Contemporary Voice department. She also runs a private vocal studio in Lindon, and has taught and coached voice at Utah State University, Mountain View High School, American Heritage School, and Oak Canyon Jr. High School. Janilyn enjoys performing in recital and has been a soloist for the Northern Utah Choral Society, Utah Baroque Ensemble, and Quest. She is a founding member of the singing groups “Sing Joy” and “Harmony”. Favorite opera roles include Nella in “Gianni Schicchi”, The Witch in “Hansel and Gretel”, and Despina in “Cosi Fan Tutte”. She played Rodaspes/Joshua/Shibyah in the world premiere of M. Ryan Taylor’s “The Other Wiseman”. She also enjoys singing musical theatre and big band jazz. Former president of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Central Utah Chapter, Janilyn holds a degree from BYU in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy. She is a wife and mother to three boys, who have attended American Heritage School since 2005.
