What is the Purpose of Spirit Days and Spirit Apparel? The purpose of Spirit Days
is to celebrate and unify with each other through physical activity, service, and
optional wearing of AHS Spirit Apparel.
Can Students Wear Spirit Apparel to School?
AHS Spirit Apparel will be permitted for all students to wear at school only on
designated "AHS Spirit Days." Spirit Apparel is not a substitute for the AHS uniform
on regular school days. All students who have purchased AHS Spirit Apparel items
(other than baseball caps) may wear these items in school on Spirit Days in place
of the regular uniform polo shirts or uniform jackets/sweaters. Students not in
AHS Spirit Apparel must wear the approved uniform for that day.
When Will Spirit Days Be Held and What is the Agenda? There will be at least one Spirit Day each
semester in connection with Homecoming and Field Day. Spirit days often include
an assembly, followed by service projects and spirit activities during core class
periods.
Can We Wear Jeans on Spirit Days? Yes. Students may wear jeans or non-uniform
slacks (blue, black, or brown) on Spirit Day so long as the jeans or slacks are modest, do not call attention
to the wearer, and are not a distraction to the classroom atmosphere. Please do
not wear jeans that are form-fitting, low-riding, low-waistline, or otherwise overly
revealing of anatomy. Please no holes, distressed, broken-twill, blasted, dirty
washed, double-dyed, faded, or seams, sequins, stitching, or other lettering that
calls attention to the jeans or to underclothing or anatomy. Also – long sleeved
undershirts beneath AHS Spirit Apparel T-shirts are acceptable on Spirit Day (solid
spirit apparel colors preferred; no logos or lettering on long sleeves please).
