A colloquium is a scholarly gathering of people who have researched a topic, then come together in an effort to share in the processes of teaching and learning with one another.

The American Heritage community is invited:  scholars, parents, extended family members, teachers, administration, board members, and neighbors.

Ninth Grade Scholars will lead the discussions as part of their Principles of Leadership training.

Question:  The great empires of the history of the world, regardless of their vast arsenals, treasuries, populations and duration, have fallen.  Why has this repeatedly occurred?

Premise:  The question as to the rise and fall of nations is due to a short and simple one-word answer; it is pride.

“Behold, the pride of this nation, or the people of the Nephites, hath proven their destruction.” Moroni 8:27 .

A participant may read any part or all of the readings.

We invite you to join us in this effort to edify one another as we address the premise and answer the question.
